Moose Racing - On The Podium

When the racers pulled into the Snowshoe Mountain resort in Snowshoe Mountain, W. Va. for the ninth round of the Can-Am GNCC series this past weekend, they all had visions of taking home the $10,000 first place prize that was up for grabs, courtesy of MotorcycleUSA.com. However, crossing the finish line first would be an extremely tough task as the 27-mile course was by all accounts the toughest of the year.

Moose Racing team rider and XC2 competitor, Jesse Robinson nearly became the first XC2-class rider to "overall" a GNCC race by beating all of the other competitors, XC1 class included. But after battling for the lead for over three hours with Nate Kanney, Robinson got stuck in a muddy rut only two miles from the finish line and would cross the line in second place. Despite narrowly missing the overall, Robinson still took home the XC2-class win a cool $5,000 for his hard work.

"I hated to be the one to make the mistake, but that's how it goes," said Robinson. "Nate was leading and I went around this mud hole and he started through it and then changed his mind and that allowed me to get the lead. I pulled about 20 seconds on him and I came up on this little hill with about two miles to go and I just kind of slid out. I thought it was no problem and then I realized I was really stuck. I had to get off and push it backwards with my shoulder on the number plate to get un-stuck and Nate went around me. I have to say congratulations to Nate, he made the least mistakes today."

Robinson was joined on the XC2-class podium by fellow Moose Racing teammate, Scotty Watkins who battled through the challenging conditions to finish third.

A special thank you to all of the GNCC and Moose Racing fans who stopped by the semi in the pits throughout the weekend. We had some great crowds and it's always fun to do a little bench racing with our fellow racers.

The series will take some time off for the summer months before getting back underway on September 11 - 12, 2010 at the famous Unadilla Valley Sports Center in New Berlin, N.Y.

Watkins maintains his overall series leads while Jarrett's second place finish moves him into a tie for second place overall, just seven points behind his teammate. The fifth round of the series, which also marks the halfway point, will take place July 10-11, 2010 at the Wolverine XC in Mesick, Mich.

Over in Europe, the Team Suzuki Off-road GB team was competing in the Welsh Two Day Enduro in Llandrindod Wells, United Kingdom. Tom Sagar led the team with a strong second place overall finish on the dusty and dry course.

"The Welsh is a fantastic event that I really enjoy riding, but it's also an important test for us too," said Sagar. "Although we didn't get the overall win I'm more than happy with my performance and as ever the RMX proved the perfect tool for the job. We've got the GBXC next and then it's the big one at the BEC, which I need to be in top form for."

The team will again be competing together this coming weekend at the third round of the GBXC in North Yorkshire before heading off to the British Enduro Championship where Sagar and team manager, Paul Edmondson will be looking to wrap up titles in the E1 and E2 classes.
